DESCRIPTION

An attractive English Doulton’s June jug dating to the early 20th century, with a rounded cream glazed body and elegant scrolling handle. The surface is decorated with colorful flowering branches and foliage in pink, green, turquoise and muted tones, enriched with scattered gilt effects. A dark brown neck carries a dense gilt floral pattern, while the red glazed handle and gilt-lined foot provide further decorative contrast. The generous proportions and richly ornamented surface give the piece a distinctive decorative character typical of period Doulton production.

COLLECTOR’S NOTE

Doulton’s decorative pottery from the turn of the 20th century combined fashionable floral ornament with elaborate colored and gilt finishes. Named designs such as June are collected for their characteristic period decoration and association with the extensive output of the Doulton factories.
