DESCRIPTION

A fine Chinese porcelain saucer from the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty, decorated in iron red enamel with gilt highlights. The interior features an elegant garden composition with large flowering chrysanthemums, delicate blossoms, leafy branches and ornamental garden railings. Fine iron red outlines define the floral details, while touches of gilding add warmth and contrast against the pale white glazed ground. The rim is decorated with a geometric lattice border interrupted by small floral panels, creating an attractive decorative frame. The reverse is finished in a plain white glaze with an unmarked recessed base and circular foot ring. A charming example of early 18th century Chinese porcelain with delicate floral decoration and traditional garden imagery.

COLLECTOR’S NOTE

Iron red and gilt decoration was an important feature of Chinese porcelain produced during the Kangxi period, particularly for the export market. Floral garden compositions featuring chrysanthemums, flowering branches and ornamental railings reflect traditional Chinese decorative themes and artistic influences. This saucer represents the refined decorative craftsmanship associated with early 18th century Qing Dynasty porcelain and would make an appealing addition to a collection of Chinese export ceramics.
