This elegant blue and white porcelain dish is delicately decorated with a central lotus flower surrounded by flowing scrollwork and blooming sprays, all rendered in rich cobalt underglaze blue. The detailed composition is framed by alternating panels of diaper patterns and stylized blossoms, while the rim is adorned with a scrolling foliate band.

On the reverse, four evenly spaced ruyi-head scrolls continue the refined decoration, a hallmark of early Qing aesthetics. Though the piece displays a visible hairline and minor rim wear, it remains structurally sound and visually captivating.

The lotus motif (莲花 / 荷花) carries deep cultural symbolism in Chinese art. As a homophone for 廉 (lian) meaning integrity and honesty, the lotus was frequently associated with the ideal of a morally upright official. It also embodies purity and spiritual harmony, rising unstained from muddy waters.
