DESCRIPTION

A Chinese porcelain bowl dating to the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty, decorated in an attractive Imari palette of underglaze blue and iron red with gilt details. The exterior features flowering peony sprays and stylized landscape elements arranged around the gently rounded body. Further floral decoration and a blue geometric border appear around the interior rim, with a small floral motif to the central well. The bowl stands on a neatly formed circular foot and displays the characteristic decorative contrast associated with early Chinese Imari porcelain.

COLLECTOR’S NOTE

Chinese Imari porcelain developed during the late Kangxi period, combining underglaze cobalt blue with iron red enamels and gilding. These wares reflect the strong interaction between Chinese and Japanese export porcelain traditions during the late 17th and early 18th centuries.
