DESCRIPTION

An 18th century Chinese export porcelain plate decorated in underglaze cobalt blue.The central scene depicts peony flowers and bamboo beside a fenced garden terrace.The cavetto is bordered with a simple geometric band and floral sprays to the rim.The reverse shows a plain glazed base with a neatly formed foot rim.A refined example of Qianlong period blue and white export ware.

COLLECTOR’S NOTE

Peony and bamboo are traditional symbols in Chinese art, representing harmony and marital unity.Such export wares were produced for Western markets while retaining symbolic Chinese motifs.Qianlong period blue and white porcelain remains highly regarded among collectors.
