DESCRIPTION

Chinese hanging scroll painting executed in ink and pigments on silk.

The composition depicts a vivid red bird perched within an elegant arrangement of tree branches, foliage, and flowering chrysanthemums.

The work bears a calligraphic inscription and two red artist seals.

Mounted as a traditional hanging scroll with wooden roller ends and suspension cord.

Attributed to Li Changzhi (1870-1939) and painted in the manner of Zhang Xiangguo.

Li Changzhi, also known as Li Hesheng, was active during the late Qing and Republic periods and is associated with traditional Chinese bird-and-flower painting. Works in the manner of Zhang Xiangguo reflect the refined academic style favored by court and professional painters of the period.
