The body is molded in six facets, each panel decorated in relief with stylised floral motifs and recessed cartouches containing Chinese characters. The rich turquoise-green glaze pools attractively in the recessed areas, creating depth and variation in tone.
The shoulder and mouth rim show natural kiln effects and areas of exposed buff clay, typical of provincial production. The unglazed base reveals the coarse stoneware body and hand-finishing marks consistent with period examples.
Collectorβs Notes: Provincial Celadon wares of the Qing Dynasty are valued for their robust forms and expressive glazing. Hexagonal jars such as this were often used for storage and display. The combination of molded decoration and character panels reflects traditional Chinese symbolism, making this a decorative and collectible example of 19th Century Chinese ceramics. π Condition
