DESCRIPTION
A Chinese cloisonne vase of baluster form with a tall flared neck, accompanied by a fitted carved wooden stand. The turquoise enamel ground is richly decorated with colorful flowers, scrolling foliage, and cloud-like motifs in pink, yellow, blue, green, white, and purple enamels. Fine metal cloisons outline the dense decoration, with gilt metal mounts at the mouth and base. This vase forms the companion to another closely matching example, creating an attractive decorative pair despite the noted condition issues.
COLLECTOR’S NOTE
Chinese cloisonne combines intricate metal wirework with colored enamel and has a long decorative tradition extending from the imperial period into the 20th century. Closely matched companion vases are particularly appealing for symmetrical display, and this example retains strong decorative character despite the substantial body dents and enamel losses.
