DESCRIPTION

A finely potted Vietnamese celadon shallow bowl of elegant flared form dating to the Ly Dynasty. The interior is molded with a radiating lotus petal design beneath a soft olive-green celadon glaze with attractive natural crackle.

The shallow profile and restrained decoration exemplify the refined aesthetic of Ly period ceramics. The bowl stands on a neatly formed foot ring with an unglazed base typical of the period.

COLLECTOR’S NOTE

Ly Dynasty celadon wares are among the finest ceramics produced in medieval Vietnam, admired for their subtle glaze tones and graceful forms. Lotus petal decoration reflects Buddhist artistic influence and remains one of the most sought-after motifs among collectors. The Christie’s auction label on the base provides an additional point of provenance.
