DESCRIPTION
A small Khmer stoneware jarlet of globular form with a short straight neck and neatly defined foot. The buff body is decorated with irregular dark brown russet splashed dots, creating a striking spotted appearance. The neck carries a darker glaze with subtle pooling around the shoulder. An attractive and characterful example of early Southeast Asian glazed pottery.
COLLECTOR’S NOTE
Khmer stoneware jarlets were produced between the 9th and 13th centuries at kiln sites across Cambodia and northeastern Thailand. Their distinctive iron-rich splash decoration and compact forms make them highly collectible examples of medieval Southeast Asian ceramics.
