DESCRIPTION
Well-potted Vietnamese stoneware jar dating to the Lê Dynasty.
The exterior is painted with a continuous frieze of stylized fish swimming amongst scrolling foliage, enclosed by decorative lotus lappet borders.
The soft buff glaze and finely executed underglaze decoration create an attractive and balanced composition.
Raised on a short foot with an unmarked base, retaining an appealing archaeological character.
A fine example of early Vietnamese ceramic craftsmanship.
