📜 Description
A fine Japanese porcelain vase of faceted ovoid form, with a slightly flaring neck and footrim, richly decorated in iron-red, green, turquoise, yellow, and gilt enamels in the Imari palette. The body is divided into four panels featuring Chinese-style scholar figures dressed in flowing robes, each set against a ground of alternating manji (swastika) symbols and stylised fans within a red diaper pattern reserve.

The shoulder and foot are encircled by intricate brocade-inspired borders in red enamel. The neck is decorated with hanging tassel and drapery motifs, echoing fine textile patterns. The base bears a red-painted mark, likely a Kutani character or artist’s seal.
A vibrant example of late Edo to early Meiji Japanese porcelain, reflecting both Chinese-inspired subject matter and the decorative exuberance of the period.
