DESCRIPTION

A French Paris porcelain creamer jug dating from the late 18th to early 19th century. The elegant form has a tall loop handle and sweeping shaped spout, with restrained gilt foliate scrollwork around the neck and gilt detailing to the handle and foot. The predominantly white porcelain body gives the piece a refined Neoclassical character, while the underside bears an underglaze blue mark. The restored and overpainted spout remains clearly visible and should be considered when assessing the piece.

COLLECTOR’S NOTE

Paris porcelain was produced by numerous French workshops during the late 18th and early 19th centuries and is admired for its refined forms and delicate gilt decoration. Small serving wares such as creamers are particularly representative of the elegant table services fashionable during this period.
