DESCRIPTION

An attractive antique English porcelain tea bowl produced by the New Hall Porcelain Factory during the late 18th century. Decorated in the Chinese-inspired Famille Rose palette, the exterior features delicate floral sprays painted in pink, cobalt blue, iron-red and olive green enamels against a soft white glazed ground. The interior displays an elegant floral garland with a dotted border beneath the rim and a small floral sprig at the centre. The gently flared sides and circular foot reflect the refined proportions of early New Hall porcelain, combining traditional English craftsmanship with fashionable Chinese-inspired decoration.

COLLECTOR’S NOTE

The New Hall Porcelain Factory in Staffordshire was established in 1781 and became an important producer of English porcelain during the late Georgian period. Its early wares are particularly admired for their colourful enamel decoration and designs influenced by Chinese export porcelain. This genuine New Hall tea bowl is a representative example of the factory’s early production and an appealing piece for collectors of Georgian ceramics and English Chinoiserie porcelain.
