DESCRIPTION

A Chinese porcelain saucer dish of rounded square form, decorated in a famille verte style with a central sinuous dragon surrounded by scrolling motifs. The design is predominantly rendered in vivid green enamels with dark line work and gilt highlights. A broad green diaper-pattern border frames the central decoration, separated by white and green bands and finished with a gilt rim. The underside is white glazed and bears a red Decorated in Hong Kong mark.

COLLECTOR’S NOTE

Decorated in Hong Kong porcelain forms a recognizable category of 20th-century Chinese export decorative ware. Traditional dragon imagery, famille verte colors, gilt details, and geometric borders were frequently employed to create pieces inspired by earlier Chinese decorative traditions.
