Finely painted in underglaze cobalt blue, depicting a sage or scholar from the Bamboo Grove, possibly Ruan Ji (้˜ฎ็ฑ) or the fishing sage, standing beside a woven barrel and holding a fish. Above him, cascading wisteria and bamboo frame the serene setting, symbolizing scholarly retreat and Daoist ideals.

The cup is thinly potted with a slightly flared rim, a feature typical of 18th century Qing porcelain. The delicate brushwork and crisp cobalt blue tones showcase the craftsmanship of the period.
