DESCRIPTION

A richly decorated Chinese porcelain teapot in the Canton famille rose style dating to the Qing Dynasty. The body is finely painted with floral panels, birds, butterflies, bats, and stylized Daoist motifs reserved on a vibrant pink ground with gilt scrollwork. Circular Shou medallions symbolizing longevity appear near the shoulder. The domed cover matches the body decoration and retains its gilt finial. A highly decorative display piece with strong visual presence.

COLLECTOR’S NOTE

Canton enamel decorated porcelains became highly popular during the 19th century for both domestic and export markets. Decorative themes featuring bats and Shou symbols conveyed wishes for happiness, prosperity, and long life. Elaborate pink ground wares with dense gilt ornamentation remain especially desirable among collectors of Qing export porcelain.
