DESCRIPTION
A Japanese cast iron teapot in the Nanbu style with a richly textured hobnail surface.
The rounded body is fitted with a tall swing handle and a short pouring spout.
The matching cover features a decorative knop and steam vent.
Marked JAPAN to the underside of the cover and with an impressed character mark to the base.
An attractive and functional example of traditional Japanese ironwork.

Nanbu ironware became internationally popular during the late 19th and early 20th centuries for its durability and distinctive textured surfaces.
