CONDITION

GOOD (4/5) – Light enamel and gilt wear with minor fritting to the rim and typical firing imperfections. Small kiln burn mark to underside. No visible restoration. Please review the photos carefully for more details.

DESCRIPTION

Fine Chinese export porcelain tea stand dating to the Qianlong period of the 18th century. Decorated in famille rose enamels with a central flower basket overflowing with floral blooms and foliage. The shaped border features pink lattice panels with gilt highlights and scattered floral sprays. The scalloped form and vibrant enamel palette are characteristic of mid Qing export porcelain. An attractive and decorative example of 18th century tea wares.

COLLECTOR’S NOTE

Tea stands formed part of fashionable Chinese export tea services produced for European markets during the Qianlong era. Famille rose decoration with pink lattice borders became especially popular in the mid 18th century and reflects Rococo taste influences. Pieces of this type remain highly collectible for their refined enamel work and elegant small scale forms.
