An 18th century Chinese export porcelain saucer dating to the Qing Dynasty, Qianlong period. The interior is decorated in the Mandarin famille rose palette with figures and a child in a garden and pavilion setting. The shaped rim and colorful narrative decoration are characteristic of Chinese export porcelain made for the European market during the period.
COLLECTOR’S NOTE
Mandarin palette porcelain was a distinctive category of Chinese export ware during the later 18th century. Elaborate figural scenes depicting gardens, pavilions and domestic life were especially popular decorative subjects on export porcelain of the Qianlong period.
