DESCRIPTION
An attractive 18th century Chinese export porcelain saucer decorated in the Mandarin famille rose palette during the Qing Dynasty, Qianlong period. The saucer features traditional Chinese figural decoration with colourful enamel painting and ornamental gilt details. The composition reflects the elaborate decorative style associated with porcelain produced for the European export market. Despite its restored condition, the piece retains its period character and decorative appeal, representing the craftsmanship and artistic traditions of Chinese export porcelain.
COLLECTOR’S NOTE
Mandarin pattern porcelain was particularly fashionable in European markets during the second half of the 18th century. These wares frequently depicted Chinese figures, domestic activities, gardens and architectural settings, reflecting the European fascination with Chinoiserie. Restored examples remain of interest as representative pieces of Qing Dynasty export porcelain and 18th century decorative history.
