CONDITION

FAIR (3/5) – Small rim chip, fritting to the foot rim, and a visible hairline crack extending across the base. Light kiln and firing imperfections consistent with age. Please review the photos carefully for more details.

DESCRIPTION

A finely potted Chinese porcelain saucer with a lobed rim and elegant underglaze blue floral decoration. The interior is painted with peony blossoms and scrolling vines surrounding a central floral medallion. The reverse bears a simple floral mark in underglaze blue. An attractive example of early Qing blue and white porcelain.

COLLECTOR’S NOTE

Small blue and white saucers from the Kangxi period are valued for their refined brushwork and graceful floral designs. Decorative marks of this type are commonly found on export and domestic wares of the late 17th and early 18th centuries.
