DESCRIPTION

Chinese Canton porcelain plate decorated in famille rose enamels with an elegant interior court scene featuring noble ladies and attendants gathered within a pavilion terrace setting. The broad border is richly painted with birds, butterflies, peonies, and scrolling foliage in vibrant pink, turquoise, green, and iron red tones with gilt highlights. Fine architectural and textile details enhance the lively narrative composition. The plate displays the colorful decorative style associated with mid Qing Canton export wares.

COLLECTOR’S NOTE

Mandarin pattern porcelain became highly sought after during the Qing Dynasty for both domestic and export markets. Courtly scenes combined with elaborate floral borders reflected the taste for richly ornamented Canton enamels during the Daoguang period.
