DESCRIPTION
Chinese Canton enamel porcelain plate decorated in the Mandarin rose palette with elegant court figures gathered within a garden terrace setting. The scene includes scholars, attendants, and ladies in flowing robes surrounded by flowering trees, rockwork, and fenced terraces. Bright famille rose enamels in pink, iron red, turquoise, green, and lavender create a lively and decorative composition. The border is finished with a pink geometric diaper pattern accented with gilt edging. A charming Qing export example with detailed figural decoration and strong visual character.
COLLECTOR’S NOTE
Mandarin palette porcelains became highly popular during the Qing dynasty for export and domestic markets, especially during the Daoguang period. Courtly scenes with richly dressed figures reflected elite taste and literary themes associated with refinement and social harmony. Plates of this type are appreciated for their colorful narrative decoration and finely painted enamels.
