DESCRIPTION

Fine Chinese export porcelain plate dating to the Qianlong period of the 18th century. Decorated in famille rose enamels with a central floral cornucopia surrounded by scattered floral sprigs. The border features an elegant puce and gilt European style design with scrolling motifs and star details. The delicate enamel palette and refined gilt work are characteristic of high quality Qing export porcelain. A decorative and attractive cabinet piece.

COLLECTOR’S NOTE

Chinese export porcelain with European inspired borders became highly fashionable during the Qianlong period. Designs combining famille rose enamels with gilt and puce decoration were produced for Western markets and reflected Rococo influences popular in Europe during the mid 18th century. Pieces of this type remain desirable among collectors of Chinese export wares.
