DESCRIPTION

Fine Chinese porcelain plate decorated in underglaze cobalt blue on a pale celadon-tinted white ground. The central design features delicate flowering plants and peony motifs enclosed within a scrolling ribbon border. Additional geometric and wave-style borders decorate the rim. Elegant and restrained Qing dynasty decorative style with refined hand-painted detail throughout. A well-balanced example of 18th century Chinese export porcelain.

COLLECTOR’S NOTE

Blue and white porcelain from the Qianlong period remains highly collected for its refined painting and balanced decorative compositions. Plates of this type were produced for both domestic and export markets during the Qing dynasty. The delicate floral motifs and clean border work are characteristic of mid-18th century Chinese porcelain craftsmanship.
