DESCRIPTION

Antique Chinese porcelain plate finely painted in underglaze cobalt blue on a pale celadon-toned ground. The center features a detailed floral bouquet with peony blossoms and leafy stems executed in a refined hand-painted style. The border is decorated with an attractive repeating scroll and geometric pattern framing the interior design. Nicely potted with slightly irregular form consistent with 18th century production. A decorative and appealing Qing dynasty example.

COLLECTOR’S NOTE

Blue and white export porcelain from the Qianlong period is highly regarded for its elegant decoration and skilled brushwork. Floral compositions such as peony motifs symbolized prosperity and honor in Chinese decorative arts. Plates with detailed border patterns and balanced floral arrangements remain desirable among collectors of Qing porcelain.
