CONDITION

GOOD (4/5) – Fine hairline 3cm the rim with scattered rim fritting and glaze wear with shallow chip 2cm. No major restoration observed. Please review the photos carefully for more details.

DESCRIPTION

Antique Chinese porcelain plate finely painted in cobalt blue underglaze on a pale white ground. The decoration depicts an elegant lakeside landscape with pagodas, pavilion architecture, rocky outcrops and lotus plants. The scene is rendered in the transitional Kangxi with delicate linear brushwork and tonal blue washes. The reverse remains plain with an unmarked foot rim. An appealing example of early Qing export porcelain.

COLLECTOR’S NOTE

Blue and white landscape porcelains from the Kangxi period were widely exported and admired for their refined painting and balanced compositions. Scenic lake and pavilion subjects drew inspiration from classical Chinese painting traditions. Plates with hand painted underglaze cobalt decoration remain highly collectible among Qing porcelain enthusiasts.
