DESCRIPTION
Chinese octagonal porcelain plate painted in underglaze blue with an abundant arrangement of blossoms and curling foliage rising from a patterned flower pot. Fine outlines and shaded blue washes define the petals and leaves, enclosed by a narrow foliate band. The broad border carries alternating floral sprays beneath a geometric rim band, finished with a brown-dressed edge. The reverse is plain glazed with a raised circular foot.
COLLECTOR’S NOTE
The central flower arrangement and carefully divided border offer an attractive study of Chinese blue and white floral decoration. The octagonal outline complements the detailed brushwork, with the patterned vessel providing a strong focal point.
