CONDITION

GOOD (4/5) – Small frits and glaze wear around the scalloped rim with kiln imperfections and firing spots consistent with age. No visible restoration. Please review the photos carefully for more details.

DESCRIPTION

Chinese blue and white porcelain saucer dating to the Kangxi period of the Qing dynasty. The interior is finely painted with scrolling lotus designs divided into radiating panels around a central flower medallion. The border features geometric diaper decoration and floral reserves. The reverse is decorated with four simple lotus symbols in underglaze blue. A well balanced example with attractive cobalt tones and classic early Qing character.

COLLECTOR’S NOTE

Kangxi period porcelain is admired for its confident brushwork and vivid cobalt decoration. Floral scroll designs inspired by lotus symbolism were widely used on export porcelain of the late 17th and early 18th century. Pieces with decorated reverses and scalloped rims are especially appealing to collectors of transitional and early Qing wares.
