DESCRIPTION

An attractive Chinese famille rose porcelain figurine depicting He Xian Gu, the female member of the Eight Daoist Immortals, dating to the Qing Dynasty, 19th century. The elegantly modelled figure stands upon a turquoise rectangular pedestal, dressed in flowing robes decorated with vibrant pink, turquoise, green and blue enamels, highlighted by delicate floral details and fine black outlines. Her serene facial expression, finely painted features and neatly arranged black hair reflect the traditional Chinese representation of this immortal. She holds a stylized lotus flower, her characteristic attribute, associated with purity and spiritual enlightenment. The hollow underside is unmarked, showing typical signs of age and manufacture. A decorative example of Qing Dynasty polychrome porcelain figure production.
