The body is finely decorated with scenes from the famous Xixiang Ji (Romance of the Western Chamber), depicting elegant figures in a garden setting with richly detailed architecture, foliage, and blooming Peony.
Collectorβs Notes: Narrative wares illustrating Xixiang Ji are among the most desirable subjects of the Yongzheng period, prized for their painterly quality and literary significance. Cups of this handled form are particularly scarce, and the finesse of the enamels and expressive figures make this a highly important and collectible example.
