DESCRIPTION
An antique Chinese blue and white porcelain plate dating to the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty. The center
is decorated with precious objects and flowering branches in a scholar’s arrangement, painted in fine
underglaze cobalt blue.

The cavetto features geometric and floral borders, while the outer rim displays dense scrolling floral decoration beneath a brown dressed edge. The composition reflects the refined decorative style associated with early Qing export porcelain.

The reverse shows traditional metal staple repairs, a historic restoration method commonly used to preserve valuable porcelain pieces.

COLLECTOR’S NOTE

Kangxi blue and white porcelain is highly regarded for its crisp cobalt painting and balanced decorative designs. Plates featuring scholar objects and symbolic floral motifs were popular both domestically and for export markets during the early 18th century.
