CONDITION

DESCRIPTION

A finely painted Chinese export porcelain oval tea stand decorated in rich underglaze cobalt blue. The interior and rim are filled with dense floral scrollwork and stylized peony blooms accented with traces of gilt. The shallow oval form was designed to support a tea bowl or cup during service. The underside remains unglazed with visible kiln finishing marks typical of early Qing porcelain production. An elegant and decorative Kangxi period tea accessory.

COLLECTOR’S NOTE

Tea stands were commonly produced for export during the Kangxi period to accompany porcelain tea wares used in European markets. Blue and white examples with dense floral ornamentation remain highly sought after for their refined brushwork and practical form. Surviving oval stands are increasingly appreciated by collectors of Chinese export ceramics.
