DESCRIPTION
Chinese export porcelain plate decorated in iron red and underglaze cobalt blue with Daoist scholar symbols and auspicious objects. The center features a vase with feathers and ritual objects surrounded by ribbon-tied emblems and decorative motifs. Delicate gilt highlights remain visible around the rim decoration. The restrained palette and balanced composition are characteristic of Kangxi period export porcelain.
COLLECTOR’S NOTE
Kangxi porcelain from the late 17th and early 18th century is highly regarded for its fine potting and elegant enamel decoration. Scholar objects and Daoist emblems were popular decorative themes symbolizing refinement, learning, and longevity. Plates of this type were produced for both domestic appreciation and export markets.
