DESCRIPTION

Antique Chinese porcelain plate decorated in underglaze cobalt blue with a central flower basket motif. The design is framed by a finely painted geometric band and elegant lotus scroll border around the rim. The reverse features simple blue insect motifs typical of Kangxi export porcelain. The painting is refined and balanced with strong early Qing decorative character. A pleasing example of 18th century blue and white export ware.

COLLECTOR’S NOTE

Kangxi period porcelain is highly regarded for its crisp cobalt blue decoration and finely potted forms. Floral basket designs were popular export motifs intended for European markets during the early Qing dynasty. Even restored examples remain collectible for their historical appeal and decorative quality.
