📜 Description
Chinese rectangular wooden jewelry box fitted with decorative pierced and engraved brass mounts. The lid is centered with an oval inset stone panel, framed by stylised corner fittings featuring bat-like forms. The front displays an ornate brass lock plate with engraved foliate design and double latch mechanism.

The interior is lined with bright turquoise silk fabric decorated with woven floral motifs, and divided into compartments suitable for jewelry storage. The underside is lacquered in black.

Collector’s Notes: Bat motifs in Chinese art symbolize happiness and good fortune (“Fu”). The use of brass mounts and Jade inset reflects traditional decorative tastes adapted for export and domestic markets in the 20th Century. Such boxes were often used for jewelry or precious personal items.

FAIR ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ (3/5) – Visible age wear, surface scratches, interior fabric wear, and a split/loss to one side of the wooden lid edge. Metal mounts show patina. Please review the photos carefully for more details.
