📜 Description
An exceptional Indian colonial silver salt cellar, finely cast and chased in high relief, attributed to Daday Khan, a prominent 19th–early 20th century silversmith active at 28 Mount Road, Madras (now Chennai).

Of tripod cauldron form with its original spoon, the salt cellar is decorated with repeating medallions of Lord Ganesha, the beloved Hindu deity of wisdom and prosperity, each shown seated in typical form. The lid is pierced with stylized lotus rosettes, and both cellar and spoon exhibit visible handwork and age-appropriate patina.

Though marked, the stylistic parallels and repoussé detailing correspond closely with documented pieces by Daday Khan, including those held in museum and private collections.
A scarce and historically important example of Madras colonial silver, ideal for collectors of Hindu ritual silver, South Indian decorative arts, or British India colonial material.

🔍 Condition
GOOD – with oxidation, verdigris, and darkened patina across recessed areas. Spoon appears original. Some surface wear and tarnishing consistent with age. Please refer to the photographs for close-up details.
