DESCRIPTION

A large Royal Copenhagen porcelain collector plate from the Portraits of Old Copenhagen series, No. 4, dated 1977. The central architectural scene by Mads Stage depicts the Queens Gate leading to the Kings Garden in Copenhagen, originally built in 1913 by Helge Bojsen-Moller. The finely rendered gateway is surrounded by a broad and highly decorative gilt border of intricate interlaced scrollwork. The reverse carries the Royal Copenhagen Denmark marks together with printed Danish and English details identifying the subject, series and artist. An impressive decorative plate combining Copenhagen architectural history with the quality and craftsmanship associated with Royal Copenhagen porcelain.
