A charming Japanese Arita porcelain bowl with a lobed rim, finely painted in underglaze cobalt blue, with delicate touches of iron red and gilt. The interior depicts a classic literati-style landscape featuring a thatched pavilion, pine and bamboo trees, and distant mountains—all framed in soft tonal washes and outlined in gold.

To the left, a beautifully inscribed Chinese-style poetic couplet reads:

“Crossing the river, waves rise a thousand feet;
Flowing into bamboo, tens of thousands of stalks bow sideways.”

This expressive verse celebrates nature’s vitality and grace, echoing themes of resilience and tranquility, often favored in Edo and Meiji period art.
