The painting is crisp and balanced with attractive deep blue tones throughout. A charming decorative example in traditional Japanese blue and white style.
COLLECTOR’S NOTE
Blue and white porcelain remained an important part of Japanese ceramic production during the late Meiji period and into the 20th century. Floral scroll motifs were inspired by earlier Chinese export wares while adapted to Japanese tastes and forms. Handled porcelain cups of this type are appreciated for both display and practical use.
