DESCRIPTION
An English Victorian cobalt blue glass eye wash cup dating to the 19th century. The piece has a compact rounded body with a narrowed waist and distinctive flared curved rim. The richly colored cobalt glass displays attractive variations from vivid blue to almost black where the glass is thickest. The substantial construction and irregularities of manufacture give the piece strong period character. The underside carries a moulded W mark, adding further interest to this collectible example of Victorian glassware.
COLLECTOR’S NOTE
Victorian colored glass pieces are collected for their rich colors, distinctive forms and variety of period manufacturing techniques. Deep cobalt blue examples have particularly strong decorative appeal, while the moulded W mark provides an additional point of interest for specialist collectors.
