📜 Description
💡 Note: Lid only – base teapot not included.
A curious antique porcelain lid or fitting, likely from an English 19th-century lamp conversion or possibly adapted from a larger vessel. Finely potted with a domed shape, central aperture, and recessed base, the exterior is finished in a soft white glaze with a single fine gilt line around the rim.
The body is subtly crackled from age, with a warm ivory tone and scattered staining from long-term use or exposure. The hole at the centre suggests later adaptation—perhaps for a lamp rod, drainage, or mounting on a base.
🧧 Collector’s Note:
This piece exemplifies utilitarian adaptation of porcelain forms in the Victorian period, when broken or surplus ceramics were often repurposed for new functions. Its domed shape, even crazing, and gilt accent place it firmly in the 1800s.
Ideal for collectors of Victorian curiosities, lamp parts, or those with an eye for decorative fragments and architectural salvage.
💡 Note: Lid only – vase not included.
🔍 Condition
GOOD – Crazing throughout, age-related staining, light surface wear, and minor gilt rubbing. Please inspect all photographs carefully.
