๐ณ๏ธ Origin Spode Factory, Stoke-on-Trent, England
๐๏ธ Period Early to Mid-19th Century โ circa 1830โ1850
๐
Pattern Green Floral Transfer โ Transfer-printed in olive-green underglaze, featuring roses, foliage, and butterflies arranged in a dense botanical design typical of early Victorian taste.
๐ท๏ธ Marked Impressed and underglaze blue โSPODEโ mark to base, consistent with early 19th-century Spode porcelain production.
๐ Description An attractive Spode porcelain saucer decorated in rich green transfer-printing, featuring full-blown roses and foliage intertwined with butterflies. The floral motif combines botanical accuracy with decorative stylisation, showing the influence of Regency and early Victorian design aesthetics. The base bears the early โSPODEโ mark, used circa 1810โ1830, continuing slightly into the mid-century for certain patterns.
Collectorโs Notes: Green transferware, though less common than blue, was popular among Spode and other Staffordshire makers in the first half of the 19th century. Comparable designs are referenced in Copeland & Garrett pattern books of the 1830s and in the Victoria and Albert Museumโs English porcelain collections.
๐ Condition GOOD โญโญโญโญโ (4/5) โ Moderate surface wear, glaze crazing and light staining commensurate with age. Please review the photos carefully for more details.
