DESCRIPTION
A Chinese porcelain saucer dish decorated with a rich cobalt blue ground surrounding a plain white central well. The broad border features repeating famille rose floral blossoms among dense green scrolling foliage, accented in pink, yellow, and red enamels. A fine iron red line defines the central reserve, while the exterior remains predominantly white glazed. The shallow flared form and raised central well are characteristic of a saucer intended for use with a gaiwan or covered tea bowl. The underside bears a red Jingdezhen mark within the recessed foot.
COLLECTOR’S NOTE
This decorative saucer reflects the continued production of brightly enameled traditional Chinese porcelain at Jingdezhen during the 20th century. Its cobalt ground, famille rose palette, scrolling ornament, and tea ware form make it an attractive example for collectors of Chinese porcelain and gaiwan accessories.
