DESCRIPTION

A decorative Chinese handled cup finished in a rich red lacquer effect with finely rendered gilt floral branches and blossoms extending around the exterior. The interior is finished in a contrasting gold color, complemented by a fine gilt border around the rim. The rounded body stands on a small circular foot and is fitted with a curved loop handle. The combination of red and gold creates a particularly attractive traditional Chinese decorative appearance. A charming vintage piece suitable for display or inclusion in a collection of Asian decorative arts and lacquer wares.

COLLECTOR’S NOTE

Red and gold have long been important colors within Chinese decorative arts, frequently appearing together on lacquer wares and ceremonial objects. Floral branches and blossoms are also enduring decorative themes, valued for their elegant appearance and traditional symbolic associations.
