CONDITION

GOOD (4/5) – Fine hairline on the border 3cm with minor chipping edges. Light enamel wear and minor firing imperfections consistent with age. Later metal hanging loop attached to the foot rim. Please review the photos carefully for more details.

DESCRIPTION

Delicate Chinese export porcelain saucer decorated in the famille rose palette with two birds facing beneath a flowering tree. The scene is framed by an elaborate floral and geometric border in iron red, green, pink, and blue enamels. Finely potted with a shallow form and bright white glaze typical of Qianlong period wares. The composition conveys themes of harmony and companionship common in Qing decorative arts.

Qianlong famille rose export porcelains were highly prized in Europe during the 18th century for their refined enamels and decorative charm. Paired birds and flowering trees were popular symbolic motifs associated with marriage, fidelity, and prosperity.
