DESCRIPTION
An 18th century Chinese export porcelain saucer dating to the Qing Dynasty, Qianlong period. Hand-painted in Mandarin famille rose enamels, the central scene depicts four figures in a garden setting beside a pavilion, with trees, distant buildings and landscape details. The decoration features pink, green, blue, purple and iron-red enamels. A scalloped rim surrounds an elaborate purple crosshatched border with floral cartouches and landscape panels, giving the piece a distinctive decorative character.
COLLECTOR’S NOTE
Mandarin famille rose porcelain was popular in European markets during the 18th century. These colourful export wares frequently featured Chinese figures, garden scenes and elaborate ornamental borders. This example reflects the decorative traditions of Qianlong period porcelain and remains of interest to collectors despite its restoration.
