DESCRIPTION
Chinese porcelain saucer dating to the Qing Dynasty and Qianlong period, decorated in an attractive Imari palette of underglaze cobalt blue, iron-red enamels and gilt highlights. The central medallion contains a stylized peony flower and foliage, surrounded by alternating blue and white radiating panels filled with flowering sprays. Gilt detailing accents the stems, leaves and blossoms, while a repeating floral border completes the rim. The reverse is sparsely decorated with small underglaze blue and iron-red floral sprays around an unmarked foot.
COLLECTOR’S NOTE
Chinese Imari porcelain combines underglaze cobalt blue with iron-red enamels and gilding, a decorative palette widely produced during the Qing Dynasty. The radiating panels and abundant peony decoration give this Qianlong period saucer strong decorative character.
