DESCRIPTION

A Chinese export porcelain saucer dating to the Yongzheng period.

The center is decorated in finely painted grisaille with a flower-filled basket surrounded by floral sprays.

The rim features a famille rose pink lattice border with delicate gilt scroll and floral ornament.

The restrained grisaille palette combined with enamel decoration is characteristic of refined export wares of the period.

The saucer is raised on a neatly formed foot ring and remains unmarked.

COLLECTOR’S NOTE

Grisaille decorated export porcelain became fashionable in Europe during the Yongzheng era and was produced for both Chinese and Western markets.

Pieces combining monochrome grisaille painting with famille rose enamels are particularly associated with high-quality Qing export porcelain of the early 18th century.
